Favorite quote from this book has to be “it’s fine, it’s fine.” But you have to wonder, is it ever really fine?!

This books challenges us, do we really want a better version of ourselves? Is the grass really greener on the otherside?

March 2021 – “Where’d You Go, Bernadette” by Maria Semple

Back to our in-person meeting, we enjoyed discussing this book while drinking some “Pink Penguin” cocktails 🙂 We discussed both Mythos and Where’d you go Bernadette. Lots to catch up on at this meet up!

Families are complicated. Bernadette, a complicated yet incredibly artist and creator, goes missing. The events leading up to her disappearance are relatable as we all get stuck in a rut sometimes with life. Sometimes, we have to dig deep to find out who we really are and what truly gives us purpose and makes us happy.

Mythology

February 2021 – “Mythos” by Stephen Fry

We had a good run with our in-person book club meetings, but this one was cancelled due to a COVID exposure. “Mythos” was a tough read (how do you even pronounce some of these names?!), definitely easier to listen to on Audible.

A fast run down of Greek Mythology. Crash course to understanding most of the Greek Gods & Goddesses. Interesting read learning how the Greeks interpreted the world and everything in it.

Historical Fiction

January 2021 – “The Huntress” by Kate Quinn

There’s a lot going on in this book!

An light read to end out this crazy year!

After buying a enchanted watch, Ben has the ability to go back in time to decided again – Daphne or Alice? Perfect Christmas romance about what we need and want from relationships.

Shopper beware, there is a couple’s workbook with the same title–thanks for letting us know, Tami! lol
Humour

November 2020 – “Anxious People” by Fredrik Backman

This book received mixed reviews.

Sometimes, laughter is the best medicine. Charming story about an impulse decision which has unexpected consequences. A story about second changes, friendship and forgiveness. A robbery gone wrong makes an interesting group of people rethink their lives.
